SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard C. "Dick" Cooney of Hampton, who
4passed away on December 31, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Dick Cooney was born in Columbus, Nebraska to
6Carroll and Doloris Thrun Cooney on June 12, 1940; he graduated
7from Davenport High School in 1958; he married Charlotte Jones
8in 1961 and they had three children; he later married Nancy
9Asman in 1986; and
10 WHEREAS, Dick Cooney served in the United States Air Force,
11which began a lifelong love of aviation; and
12 WHEREAS, Dick Cooney worked for Lockheed International and
13Northrop Corporation, where he oversaw the development,
14testing, and evaluation of the most advanced and sophisticated
15electronic countermeasure systems of fighter planes;
16therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Richard C. "Dick" Cooney, and extend our sincere condolences to
20his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
