| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Charles R. Smith Sr. of Bunker Hill, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on December 13, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. was born to Robert J. and Gladys | ||||||
| 6 | (Moore) Smith on September 17, 1925; he was a veteran of the | ||||||
| 7 | United States Army and served during World War II; he married | ||||||
| 8 | Mary Crays in Arkansas; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. worked as a heavy equipment | ||||||
| 10 | operator, a position from which he retired; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. was a member of the Bethlehem | ||||||
| 12 | Baptist Church; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 14 | parents; his wife, Mary; his children, Joy Faye Smith and | ||||||
| 15 | Billie Jo Smith; his granddaughter, Carol Tolle; his brothers, | ||||||
| 16 | James Smith and Norman Smith; and his sister, Betty Clark; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. is survived by his children, | ||||||
| 18 | Charlene (Steven) Baugh, Charles R. Smith Jr., and Curtis | ||||||
| 19 | Smith; his grandchildren, Samantha (R.J.) Crotser, Holly | ||||||
| 20 | (Justin) Wilke, Michelle (Jeffrey) Reiser, and Paige (Kyle) | ||||||

| 1 | Lester; his seven great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Glenn | ||||||
| 2 | Smith, Lilly Mae King, and Gladys Rose Sauerwein; therefore, be | ||||||

| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 6 | Charles R. Smith Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
