SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Frieda Haddad Abdnour of Peoria, who
passed away on November 5, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Frieda Abdnour was born in Peoria on October 29,
1918; she married Ralph Abdnour in 1946; and
WHEREAS, Frieda Abdnour and her husband opened a grocery
store in Streator; after his passing, she moved back to Peoria
and opened Aunt Frieda's Deli in Haddad's Grocery Store; and
WHEREAS, Frieda Abdnour was a member of the St. Bernard's
Women's Club and volunteered at the Immaculate Conception
Convent; she was a loyal volunteer at the Komen Center for 19
years; and
WHEREAS, Frieda Abdnour enjoyed cooking and baking for her
family and became well-known in Peoria for her cooking talents;
she was happiest when she was with her children; and
WHEREAS, Frieda Abdnour was preceded in death by her
husband, Ralph; her brother, Fred Haddad; her nephew, Robert
Haddad; and her niece, Carol Gardula; and

WHEREAS, Frieda Abdnour is survived by her sons, Louis,
Joseph (Chris), Ralph, Tom (Brigid), and Frank (Donna); her
daughters, Cathy Abdnour and Louise (Norm) Hodge; 10
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Frieda Haddad Abdnour, and extend our sincere condolences to
her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Frieda Abdnour as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
