SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Deputy Dwight Maness of McHenry, who
passed away on September 14, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Maness was born and raised in Chicago and
had been a resident of McHenry County for the last 7 years; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Maness was a 20-year United States Army
Veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne Division; he was
deployed to Desert Storm and finished his career as an Airborne
Ranger Instructor with the 75th Ranger Regiment; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Maness served with the McHenry County
Sheriff's Department for the last 7 years and 11 months; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Maness is survived by his wife of nearly 3
years, Susan; his son, Nicholas; his stepchildren, Lauren
(Opryszek) and Joshua (Opryszek); his parents, Dwight E. and
Katherine; his stepmother, Pamela; his sister, Deena; his
brothers, Christopher, Joshua, and William; and his nieces,
Sydney, Kayla, Hannah, Katie (Gaffney), and Megan (Gaffney);
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Deputy Dwight Maness, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Deputy Maness as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
