2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Daniel Leroy "Dan" Thorpe of Rock | ||||||
4 | Island, who passed away on June 13, 2024; and

5 | WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe was born to Charles F. and Margaret | ||||||
6 | Sheil Thorpe in Moline on April 10, 1942; he married Shirley | ||||||
7 | Ann Sheppard in Rock Island on June 19, 1965; he served in the | ||||||
8 | U.S. Army; and

9 | WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe worked for Tank Automotive Command | ||||||
10 | (TACOM) at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1997; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe enjoyed visiting with people over a | ||||||
12 | meal, meeting his brothers for breakfast at Rainy Dayz in | ||||||
13 | Milan every Saturday; he also enjoyed going to the Star | ||||||
14 | Sandwich Shop for lunch; and

15 | WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe was always proud and willing to help | ||||||
16 | others whenever he could, such as driving veterans to and from | ||||||
17 | the VA Hospital in Iowa City for five years; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
19 | his sons, Shawn and Darrell Thorpe; his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
20 | Suzanne Thorpe; and his siblings, Wally Thorpe, Kathy |
