SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Burnell C. Russell of Volo, who passed
away on May 19, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Burnell Russell was born in Volo on July 1, 1928;
he graduated from Wauconda High School in 1945; and
WHEREAS, Burnell Russell was the former president of the
Village of Volo from 1993 to 2015; he was an ardent hometown
supporter and envisioned the changes that have helped boost
the village's population from 180 in 1993 to the current
number of more than 6,100 residents; and
WHEREAS, Burnell Russell was a past president and director
of the Lake County Farm Bureau, past president and director of
Lake-Cook Farm Supply/Conserv FS, past president and board
member of the Wauconda School District, and board member of
SEDOL; and
WHEREAS, Burnell Russell was a lifelong farmer at "R Farm"
and always looked for new and innovative ways to promote
agriculture and see it succeed and remain an important part of
Lake County history; he was a member of Joyful Spirit
Methodist Church in Ingleside and will be remembered as a man

of many talents who always had a story or a good joke; and
WHEREAS, Burnell Russell was the beloved husband of the
late Betty; the father of Linda Russell, Dee (Jim) Flood, Pat
(the late Robert) Oaks, and Cindy Kellogg; grandfather of six;
great-grandfather of 16; and uncle of many nieces and nephews;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Burnell C. Russell and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Burnell Russell as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
