2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Richard Dale "Dick" Norton of Aledo, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on June 11, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dick Norton was born to Floyd and Gladys (Bain) | ||||||
6 | Norton in Trenton, Iowa on November 15, 1934; he was a member | ||||||
7 | of the U.S. Army Reserves; he married Beverly Engwall in Aledo | ||||||
8 | on February 7, 1954; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dick Norton was employed with Contel Telephone | ||||||
10 | for many years; after retiring from Contel, he became the | ||||||
11 | economic development coordinator for the City of Aledo, and he | ||||||
12 | also proudly implemented the 911 system for Mercer County; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Dick Norton was a member of the Aledo Exchange | ||||||
14 | Club, the Aledo Masonic Lodge, the Independent Telephone | ||||||
15 | Pioneers Association, the Contel Club, and the Aledo United | ||||||
16 | Methodist Church, where he enjoyed helping in the church's | ||||||
17 | food pantry; and

18 | WHEREAS, Dick Norton enjoyed golfing and cheering for the | ||||||
19 | Iowa Hawkeyes; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dick Norton was preceded in death by his parents; |

1 | his wife; his brothers, Harold Norton, Max Norton, and Rex | ||||||
2 | Norton; and his granddaughter-in-law, Amanda; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Dick Norton is survived by his sons, Steve (Lisa) | ||||||
4 | Norton and Scott (Ruth) Norton; his grandchildren, Zachary, | ||||||
5 | Trevor, Lacey, Mikhaila, and Breanne; several | ||||||
6 | great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dortha Landrum; | ||||||
7 | therefore, be it

9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
