| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Joseph Edward "Joe" Ziegler of Rock | ||||||
4 | Island, who passed away on May 9, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was born to Edward and Rose (Engels) | ||||||
6 | Ziegler in Rock Island on August 16, 1925; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Rock Island High School in 1944; he served in the U.S. Navy | ||||||
8 | during World War II; he married Virginia May Long on June 26, | ||||||
9 | 1948, and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2018; he | ||||||
10 | was a lifelong resident of Rock Island; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler worked as a security officer at the | ||||||
12 | Rock Island Arsenal; following 27 years of service, he retired | ||||||
13 | in 1986; prior to that, he served as an office manager for | ||||||
14 | Sawyer Biscuit Co. for a time; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was a member of St. Pius X Catholic | ||||||
16 | Church; he was a talented woodworker and carver, and he | ||||||
17 | enjoyed carving canes; he also enjoyed taking care of his home | ||||||
18 | and yard; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was a man of dignity, honesty, | ||||||
20 | integrity, dedication, loyalty, benevolence, and humor who | ||||||
21 | possessed unconditional love for his family; he brought smiles |

1 | and taught lessons to many; he worked to make the world a | ||||||
2 | better place every day for nearly a century; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was preceded in death by his wife; | ||||||
4 | his grandson, Kyle; his parents; and his siblings, Edward, | ||||||
5 | Anna, Rose Margaret, Pearl, Amelia, Catherine, and Lillian; | ||||||
6 | and

7 | WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler is survived by his children, Gail | ||||||
8 | (Richard) Parsons, Timothy (Paula Zimmerman) Ziegler, Larry | ||||||
9 | Ziegler, Constance (Paul) Vaughn, and Michael (Laurie | ||||||
10 | Danielson) Ziegler; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; | ||||||
11 | and numerous nieces and nephews and their families; therefore, | ||||||
12 | be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Joseph Edward "Joe" Ziegler and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
16 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
17 | it further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Joe Ziegler as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
