SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Deborah E. "Debbie" Porter of Streator,
who passed away on February 11, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was born in Streator to Philip
"Flip" and Catherine "Honey" (Peterson) Wright on July 31,
1951; she attended Dwight-area schools and Joliet Junior
College; she received her bachelor's degree from Northern
Illinois University and her master's degree from Illinois State
University; she married James Porter at St. Patrick Church in
Ransom on November 30, 1979; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was a fourth grade school teacher at
Woodland Grade School for 34 years and was a substitute teacher
for another ten years; she was honored for her excellence in
education; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was a member of St. Michael the
Archangel Church in Streator and the Illinois Teachers
Association; she enjoyed gardening, decorating, being with her
little golf buddies, traveling with her sisters and friends,
and surprising people with handmade gifts and treats; she also
enjoyed having lots of laughs with her friend and beautician
Becky Chalkey; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was preceded in death by her
parents; her brother, Danny Wright; her brother-in-law, Ronald
Porter; her golden retriever, Max; and her close friend and
fellow fourth grade teacher, Jacque LaRette; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Porter is survived by her husband, Jim; her
sons, Kyle and Brett Porter; her special friend that she
thought of as a daughter, Theresa (Chad) Lynch, and her
children that she treated as grandchildren, Clayton and Norra
Lynch; her sisters, Diane (Dave) Brody and Denice (Darvin)
Kiper; her sister-in-law, Cleone Wright; and many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one
great-great-nephew; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Deborah E. "Debbie" Porter and extend our sincere condolences
to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Debbie Porter as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
