| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Deborah E. "Debbie" Porter of Streator, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on February 11, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was born in Streator to Philip | ||||||
| 6 | "Flip" and Catherine "Honey" (Peterson) Wright on July 31, | ||||||
| 7 | 1951; she attended Dwight-area schools and Joliet Junior | ||||||
| 8 | College; she received her bachelor's degree from Northern | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois University and her master's degree from Illinois State | ||||||
| 10 | University; she married James Porter at St. Patrick Church in | ||||||
| 11 | Ransom on November 30, 1979; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was a fourth grade school teacher at | ||||||
| 13 | Woodland Grade School for 34 years and was a substitute teacher | ||||||
| 14 | for another ten years; she was honored for her excellence in | ||||||
| 15 | education; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was a member of St. Michael the | ||||||
| 17 | Archangel Church in Streator and the Illinois Teachers | ||||||
| 18 | Association; she enjoyed gardening, decorating, being with her | ||||||
| 19 | little golf buddies, traveling with her sisters and friends, | ||||||
| 20 | and surprising people with handmade gifts and treats; she also | ||||||
| 21 | enjoyed having lots of laughs with her friend and beautician | ||||||
| 22 | Becky Chalkey; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 2 | parents; her brother, Danny Wright; her brother-in-law, Ronald | ||||||
| 3 | Porter; her golden retriever, Max; and her close friend and | ||||||
| 4 | fellow fourth grade teacher, Jacque LaRette; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Debbie Porter is survived by her husband, Jim; her | ||||||
| 6 | sons, Kyle and Brett Porter; her special friend that she | ||||||
| 7 | thought of as a daughter, Theresa (Chad) Lynch, and her | ||||||
| 8 | children that she treated as grandchildren, Clayton and Norra | ||||||
| 9 | Lynch; her sisters, Diane (Dave) Brody and Denice (Darvin) | ||||||
| 10 | Kiper; her sister-in-law, Cleone Wright; and many nieces, | ||||||
| 11 | nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one | ||||||
| 12 | great-great-nephew; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Deborah E. "Debbie" Porter and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 16 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
| 17 | it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Debbie Porter as an expression of | ||||||
| 20 | our deepest sympathy.
