SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene F. Banke of Elgin, who passed away
4on October 4, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Eugene Banke was born in Buchanan, Michigan to
6Raymond and Grace Goodnella Banke on November 10, 1922; he
7joined the United States Army in 1939 and served until he was
8honorably discharged; he then served in the National Guard; and
9 WHEREAS, Eugene Banke was employed as an electrical
10engineer for most of his civilian life; and
11 WHEREAS, Eugene Banke loved all things military and family;
12he was a member of the American Legion Post 57, the Masonic
13Temple, the Order of the Eastern Star, and he was a past Post
14Commander of the American Veterans Post 202; he was a founding
15member of the Veterans Memorial Park Association in Elgin and
16was proud he could contribute to such a worthwhile memorial;
17and
18 WHEREAS, Eugene Banke was preceded in death by his son,
19Michael; his daughter, Barbara; his grandchild, David Henry;
20and his sisters, Louise Schwartz and Marie Hawkins; and

1 WHEREAS, Eugene Banke is survived by his wife, Linda; his
2children, Don (Nadine), Jim (Debbie), Sandra (Jimmy), and David
3(Natasha); his 11 grandchildren; his three
4great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews;
5therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Eugene F. Banke and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Eugene Banke as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
