| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
3 | recognize James William "Jim" Dodge for his service to the | ||||||
4 | General Assembly and the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, James Dodge received his Bachelor of Science in | ||||||
6 | Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois and | ||||||
7 | earned his Juris Doctor from the Southern Illinois University | ||||||
8 | School of Law; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, In October 2011, James Dodge was appointed | ||||||
10 | executive director of the Legislative Reference Bureau, a | ||||||
11 | nonpartisan agency that is responsible for the drafting and | ||||||
12 | preparation of legislation for the Illinois General Assembly, | ||||||
13 | including bills, amendments, resolutions, and conference | ||||||
14 | committee reports; and

15 | WHEREAS, While serving as the executive director, James | ||||||
16 | Dodge led the bureau's staff of attorneys, drafters, and | ||||||
17 | typists and oversaw the production of thousands of pieces of | ||||||
18 | legislation each year; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, James Dodge is a former prosecutor and a former | ||||||
20 | assistant attorney general of Illinois, and he previously | ||||||
21 | served as deputy chief counsel to former President of the |

1 | Illinois Senate John Cullerton from 2003 to 2011, where he | ||||||
2 | helped write the rules for the impeachment trial of former | ||||||
3 | Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and was part of a multi-year | ||||||
4 | project to rewrite and modernize the Illinois Criminal Code | ||||||
5 | and Unified Code of Corrections; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, James Dodge has served as an adjunct professor of | ||||||
7 | law with Concord Law School since 2000, where he is heavily | ||||||
8 | involved in curriculum revision and content creation for | ||||||
9 | courses, and previously taught as an instructor at Lake Land | ||||||
10 | College and Robert Morris University; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, James Dodge is a commissioner of the National | ||||||
12 | Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (the Uniform | ||||||
13 | Laws Commission), serving on drafting and study committees for | ||||||
14 | proposed uniform laws, including the Uniform Fiduciary Income | ||||||
15 | and Principal Act (UFIPA), and his research has been published | ||||||
16 | in a number of law journals and professional publications; and

17 | WHEREAS, James Dodge is a member of the Illinois State Bar | ||||||
18 | Association, the Illinois Bar Foundation, and the Academy of | ||||||
19 | Legal Studies in Business; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize James | ||||||
22 | William "Jim" Dodge for his service to the General Assembly |
