SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George R. Osterberger, DDS, of Joliet,
4who passed away on January 26, 2020; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Osterberger was born in Chicago in 1926; he
6attended Lane Tech High School; he served in the U.S. Army
7during World War II, before returning to Chicago to complete
8high school; he attended DePaul University and the University
9of Illinois College of Dentistry, graduating from the
10Department of Orthodontics; and
11 WHEREAS, Dr. Osterberger began a private practice in
12orthodontia in Joliet; he also worked for many years as an
13Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of
14Illinois in Chicago; he, along with partners Dr. Henry Peterson
15and Dr. Donald Carollo, established Associated Orthodontics in
161970, a practice that continues to serve Joliet and the
17surrounding communities to this day; and
18 WHEREAS, Throughout his career and in retirement, Dr.
19Osterberger served the Joliet community by donating his time
20and money to countless people and organizations, including the
21Catholic Diocese of Joliet, the Church of Saint Jude, Meals on
22Wheels, Senior Services of Will County, Shepherd's Table, and

1the Daybreak Shelter; despite this, we will never know the
2depth of his generosity and compassion as he steadfastly
3insisted that his contributions and service remain anonymous;
4and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Osterberger is survived by his wife, Marge
6Osterberger; his children, Mia (Scott) Goode and Thomas
7(Domenica) Osterberger; his grandson, Walter Osterberger; his
8dear friends, Thomas Kane and Mary Cele Doyle, along with their
9treasured children, nieces, and nephews; and his caregiver and
10friend, Rosita Tan; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13George R. Osterberger, DDS, and extend our sincere condolences
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
15it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dr. Osterberger as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
