2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of James R. "Jim" Sullivan of Peoria, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 3, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jim Sullivan was born to Leo and Dorothy | ||||||
6 | (Kerstetter) Sullivan in Peoria on January 29, 1947; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from the Spalding Institute in 1965; he received an | ||||||
8 | associate's degree from St. Bede Junior College and a Bachelor | ||||||
9 | of Science from Bradley University; he married Susan Swanson | ||||||
10 | in 1968; he later married Deborah Gift in 1974; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Jim Sullivan had several diverse careers during | ||||||
12 | his lifetime, including working at his father's service | ||||||
13 | station, teaching at St. Vincent de Paul in Peoria for one | ||||||
14 | year, and working at Security Savings and Loan for 20 years; he | ||||||
15 | then served as an insurance agent and financial advisor at | ||||||
16 | MassMutual before becoming the executive director of the | ||||||
17 | Community Foundation of Central Illinois; he last worked as | ||||||
18 | the development director for the Salvation Army, Heartland | ||||||
19 | Division; and

20 | WHEREAS, Jim Sullivan volunteered for the United Way, | ||||||
21 | Bradley University, the American Heart Association, the | ||||||
22 | Salvation Army, Proctor Hospital, the West Bluff Neighborhood |

1 | Association, and the Heartland Health Clinic; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Jim Sullivan recommitted to his faith in 1991; he | ||||||
3 | was a member of United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, where he | ||||||
4 | served as an elder and on the Church Foundation Board; he also | ||||||
5 | met weekly with his Christian Business Men's Connection (CBMC) | ||||||
6 | group; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Jim Sullivan was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
8 | Deborah "Debbie" Sullivan; his parents; his sister, Teri | ||||||
9 | Sullivan; and his brother, Tom Sullivan; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jim Sullivan is survived by his children, | ||||||
11 | Jennifer Sullivan, Sara (Adam) Drummer, Carrie (Mike) Eakle, | ||||||
12 | and Brian Sullivan; his grandchildren, Emily (Doug Johnson) | ||||||
13 | Prewitt, Ethan Prewitt, Molly (Kevin) Valleroy, Brady Drummer, | ||||||
14 | Rachel Drummer, Gracelynn Eakle, Myah Eakle, and Amiylah | ||||||
15 | Eakle; his siblings, Paula Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, Janet | ||||||
16 | Frederick, and Judy (Mary Price) Sullivan; and his | ||||||
17 | sister-in-law, Nancy Sullivan; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | James R. "Jim" Sullivan and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
21 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
