2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Joseph Martin "Joe" McKenna of Erie, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on April 22, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joe McKenna, the son of Martin and Kathryn | ||||||
6 | (Riordon) McKenna, was born in Sterling on August 14, 1944; he | ||||||
7 | served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married | ||||||
8 | Frances Dean Hanks, and she preceded him in death in 1974; he | ||||||
9 | later married Gloria Rosenow at the Erie United Methodist | ||||||
10 | Church on November 23, 1985; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Joe McKenna worked as a welder at John Deere | ||||||
12 | Harvester for 30 years, retiring in 2003; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Joe McKenna and his wife, Gloria, operated an | ||||||
14 | antique shop for 14 years, and they worked at many antique | ||||||
15 | shows on weekends; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Joe McKenna enjoyed gardening and working on the | ||||||
17 | farm; he also enjoyed going to casinos and playing cards with | ||||||
18 | family; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Joe McKenna was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
20 | his son, Joseph McKenna; his brothers, Tom and Clare; and his |

1 | sisters, Annette and Mary; and

2 | WHEREAS, Joe McKenna is survived by his wife of 38 years, | ||||||
3 | Gloria; his children, Lloyd (Christine) McKenna, Shawn (Donna) | ||||||
4 | McKenna, Martin (Kandi) McKenna, and Kathryn (Mark Cox) | ||||||
5 | McKenna; his stepchildren, Carla (Roger) Jaquet, Christopher | ||||||
6 | (Christine) Mortensen, Jeff Mortensen, and Jodi (Jim Garson) | ||||||
7 | Youngberg; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; | ||||||
