SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Suzanne Therese Smith, who passed away on
4September 27, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was born in Chicago to Thomas and
6Rose Boyle on March 29, 1932; she married John Francis "Jack"
7Smith on November 22, 1958; and
8 WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was an avid card player, a lover of
9music and song, a fan of dessert over dinner and a cold Miller
10Lite "once in a while"; and
11 WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was affectionately known as "Ma
12Smith"; and
13 WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was preceded in death by her
14husband, John; her parents; her children, Kevin and Donald; and
15her siblings, Maureen, Michael, James, Sharon, and Rosemary;
16and
17 WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith is survived by her children, Michael
18(Diane Peterson) Smith, Sharon (Kristen Bottlemy) Smith, David
19(Lawrena Colombo) Smith, Susan (Roland) Gagne, Eileen
20(Christian) Rosel, Brian (Sandy VandeMerkt) Smith, Patrick

1(Dewayne Gibson) Smith, and Steven (Sarah) Smith; her
2grandchildren, Alexandria and Augustine Smith; her brother,
3Thomas (Anne) Boyle; her sister, Patricia Carney; and countless
4nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Suzanne Therese Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to
8her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Suzanne Smith as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
