2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Elijah Maxey, who passed away on February | ||||||
4 | 23, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Elijah Maxey was born on December 10, 1948 in | ||||||
6 | Shreveport, Louisiana; he attended DuSable High School in | ||||||
7 | Chicago; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Elijah Maxey worked as a journeyman electrician | ||||||
9 | through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers | ||||||
10 | Local 134 from 1969 through 2010; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Egypt", Elijah Maxey was | ||||||
12 | a surrogate father to many of his sons' friends; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Elijah Maxey was the father of 3 sons, Elijah, | ||||||
14 | Jr., Jeffrey, and Jermaine; therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Elijah Maxey, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
18 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
