2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Emily Ann G. Lord, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | February 24, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ann Lord was born to Sankey and Evelyn Thorton in | ||||||
6 | Naperville on January 18, 1931; she graduated from Naperville | ||||||
7 | High School; she received a bachelor's degree from Grinnell | ||||||
8 | College in Grinnell, Iowa and a master's degree from | ||||||
9 | Northeastern University in Chicago; she married John Lord in | ||||||
10 | 1954; and

11 | WHEREAS, After college, Ann Lord worked as an advertising | ||||||
12 | copy writer and as an on-air personality at KGLO television | ||||||
13 | and radio in Mason City, Iowa, where she met her husband; she | ||||||
14 | later worked as a substitute teacher and then as a speech | ||||||
15 | teacher at Naperville North High School for 20 years and | ||||||
16 | Naperville Central High School for one year; and

17 | WHEREAS, Ann Lord was the well-known concert moderator of | ||||||
18 | Naperville Municipal Band concerts for 66 years, although her | ||||||
19 | affiliation with the band began before that when she played | ||||||
20 | clarinet with the group while she was in high school; she was | ||||||
21 | an accomplished singer and actress who appeared in a number of | ||||||
22 | area theater productions and performed one-woman shows and |

1 | shows with her daughter, Catherine, at clubs and meetings | ||||||
2 | throughout the area; and

3 | WHEREAS, Ann Lord was preceded in death by her husband of | ||||||
4 | 54 years and her parents; and

5 | WHEREAS, Ann Lord is survived by her children, Steven | ||||||
6 | (Pat) Lord, Catherine (Anthony Cesaretti) Lord, and Douglas | ||||||
7 | (Kelli) Lord; her grandchildren, Julie (Ryan) Jacobi, Robert | ||||||
8 | (Deidre) Lord, Steven (Michelle) Lord, Colleen (Bill) | ||||||
9 | Cesaretti, Connor Cesaretti, Thomas (Katie) Lord, and John | ||||||
10 | (Jodi) Lord; her great-grandchildren, Gilbert Jacobi, Louisa | ||||||
11 | Jacobi, Kennedy Lord, Isaiah Lord, Reagan Lord, and Jace Lord; | ||||||
12 | her niece, Linda Dooley; her grandnephew, John (Chelsea) | ||||||
13 | Dooley; and her great-grandniece, Addison; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Emily Ann G. Lord and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
