2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Richard L. "Dick" Smith of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 4, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dick Smith was born to Gerald and Mercedes | ||||||
6 | (Hampton) Smith in Kewanee on December 10, 1939; he served in | ||||||
7 | the U.S. Navy on the USS Oriskany for four years; he married | ||||||
8 | Marcella Searcy in Missouri on May 1, 1963; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dick Smith worked at Case IH for many years, | ||||||
10 | retiring in 1992; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dick Smith was a member of the AFL-CIO; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dick Smith was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
13 | his sons, Randy Smith and Robert "Bobby" Smith; and his | ||||||
14 | brothers, Thomas Smith and Jerry Smith; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dick Smith is survived by his wife; his children, | ||||||
16 | Lori (Mike) Ayers, Amee (Todd) Stetter, and Ryan (Tara) Smith; | ||||||
17 | eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sally | ||||||
18 | Lane; his brother, Orlie Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and | ||||||
19 | other family members; therefore, be it
