SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David Richard Sorensen of Moline, who
4passed away on March 4, 2022; and
5 WHEREAS, David Sorensen was born to Edward and Mable
6(Neumann) Sorensen in Moline on December 7, 1940; he graduated
7from Moline High School and served in the U.S. Army; he married
8Cathy Douglas, with whom he had two children; he later married
9Catherine Kuk in Davenport, Iowa on July 21, 1996; and
10 WHEREAS, David Sorensen worked for Channel 8 as a news
11reporter and cinematographer for five years; he then worked
12for John Deere as a welder for over 25 years; in retirement, he
13worked as a seasonal gardener for the city of Moline for 13
14years; and
15 WHEREAS, David Sorensen was a member of the Left Bank Art
16League; and
17 WHEREAS, David Sorensen enjoyed gardening and flowers; he
18was also a well-known local eclectic photographer, who
19especially enjoyed wildlife and bugs; and
20 WHEREAS, David Sorensen was preceded in death by his

1parents and his granddaughter, Annalea Schutz; and
2 WHEREAS, David Sorensen is survived by his two children,
3Krista Schutz and Aaron (Patty) Sorensen; his four
4grandchildren, Sophia, Jenna, and Ava Schutz and Isabella
5Sorensen; his wife, Catherine; and his sister, Boni (Ward)
6Thompson; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9David Richard Sorensen and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of David Sorensen as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
