| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Clayton "Clay" Lynn Cope of Alton, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on December 11, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Clay Cope was born to Lynn E. Cope and Carla M. | ||||||
6 | Cope in Alton on December 27, 1991; he served in the U.S. Navy | ||||||
7 | for six years and toured on the USS Eisenhower, reaching the | ||||||
8 | rank of AT3 (AW); and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, While in the Navy, Clay Cope received a series of | ||||||
10 | awards and decorations, including the national defense service | ||||||
11 | medal and the global war of terrorism expeditionary medal; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Clay Cope died unexpectedly following a tornado | ||||||
13 | incident at his place of work; he was helping others find | ||||||
14 | shelter shortly before his passing; he will be remembered as a | ||||||
15 | beloved son, brother, and friend; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Clay Cope is survived by his parents and his two | ||||||
17 | sisters, Rachel B. Cope and Alexandra M. Cope; therefore, be | ||||||
18 | it
