2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of John Ernest "Red" Moore of Jackson, | ||||||
4 | Mississippi, who passed away on October 27, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Moore was born in Yazoo County, Mississippi | ||||||
6 | on February 24, 1950, and he was the sixth child of Rosetta | ||||||
7 | Bell Moore; he received his formal education in the Jackson | ||||||
8 | Public School System and graduated from Brinkley High School; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, John Moore moved to Chicago, where he worked at | ||||||
11 | Sears Roebuck for many years; after moving back to | ||||||
12 | Mississippi, he worked in construction with his brother | ||||||
13 | Johnny, retiring in 2015; he enjoyed working in the | ||||||
14 | construction industry and the fellowship he shared with the | ||||||
15 | other workers; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, John Moore took great pleasure working in his | ||||||
17 | front yard; after mowing, raking, and planting flowers, he | ||||||
18 | enjoyed sitting in his yard to appreciate the fruits of his | ||||||
19 | labor; he was often found sitting on the front porch, talking | ||||||
20 | with friends in the yard, or taking a quick nap; and

21 | WHEREAS, John Moore was a man of strong faith, and he |

1 | relied on this faith during the latter months of his extended | ||||||
2 | illness; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, John Moore was preceded in death by his mother; | ||||||
4 | his brother, Eddie Earl Moore; his sister-in-law, Marie Moore; | ||||||
5 | his brother-in-law, Ozzie Lewis; and his niece, Mary Johnson; | ||||||
6 | and

7 | WHEREAS, John Moore is survived by his sisters, Eunice | ||||||
8 | Hollins, Essie Lewis, and Ruby (James) Walters; his | ||||||
9 | sister-in-law, Verna P. Moore; his brothers; Johnny Hooker | ||||||
10 | (Mary) Moore, L. C. Moore, Wilson Moore, Herman Bell, and Earl | ||||||
11 | (Tina) Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and | ||||||
12 | friends; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | John Ernest "Red" Moore and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
16 | his family, friends and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
