SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were deeply
saddened to learn of the death of James Demetrios Gountanis of
Green Oaks, who died at the age of 65; and
WHEREAS, James Gountanis was born in Nestani, Tripoleos,
Greece, to Konstantinos and Evagelia; he was married to Athina
(nee Arfane); and
WHEREAS, James Gountanis was the owner and operator of
GOJOS restaurant in Waukegan; and
WHEREAS, James Gountanis was preceded in death by his
mother-in-law, Katerina Arfane; and
WHEREAS, James Gountanis is survived by his wife, Athina;
his children, Constantine, Angela (Christopher) Syregelas,
George, and Niko; his parents, Konstantinos and Evagelia (nee
Boorantanis); his grandchildren, Emily and Athena; his
brothers, Nick (Penelope) and Chris (Maryann); his
father-in-law, George; his brothers-in-law Savvas (Nana) and
Petro (Georgia) Arfane, Evagelia (George) Painesis and
Efstathia (Dimitri) Mastrantonis; and his many nieces and
nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
James Gountanis, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
sympathy.
