| 2 | WHEREAS, Retail bakeries embody the spirit of American | ||||||
| 3 | entrepreneurs; they are typically local,
family-owned and | ||||||
| 4 | operated businesses; many have spanned
multiple generations; | ||||||
| 5 | they are an integral part of every community and are often | ||||||
| 6 | present at breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as all major
| ||||||
| 7 | life events and celebrations from birth to marriage to death; | ||||||
| 8 | and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The inaugural National Bakery Day is September 28, | ||||||
| 10 | 2017 and is sponsored by the Retail Bakers of America; founded | ||||||
| 11 | in 1918, the Retail Bakers of America is a non-profit trade
| ||||||
| 12 | association committed to the success of the retail bakery | ||||||
| 13 | industry; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, National Bakery Day is a day to recognize and | ||||||
| 15 | celebrate the long
tradition of local retail bakeries in | ||||||
| 16 | communities across America; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare September | ||||||
| 19 | 28, 2017 as National Bakery Day in the State of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 20 | be it further
