| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Joan Y. "Joanie" Winston of Waukegan, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on June 24, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Joan Winston was born on November 15, 1947, in | ||||||
| 6 | Waukegan; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Joan Winston graduated from Waukegan High School | ||||||
| 8 | with the Class of 1966; she subsequently earned her teaching | ||||||
| 9 | certificate; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, After receiving her teaching certificate, Joan | ||||||
| 11 | Winston taught preschool at Carmen Elementary School in | ||||||
| 12 | Waukegan; she later opened Joan's Antique Shop, which | ||||||
| 13 | specialized in antiques and jewelry; after giving up the shop, | ||||||
| 14 | she continued to deal in the antique business; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Joan Winston was preceded in death by her loving | ||||||
| 16 | daughter, Yvonne; her father, James Dorsey; her father-in-law, | ||||||
| 17 | Booker Winston (Mammie); her brother, James Dorsey, Ph.D.; her | ||||||
| 18 | uncles, Robert Hollingsworth and George Hollingsworth; her | ||||||
| 19 | brothers-in-law, Donald Winston and Charles Chapman | ||||||
| 20 | (Henrietta); and several close uncles, aunts, and friends; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Joan Winston is survived by her husband, James | ||||||
| 2 | Winston Sr.; her son, James Winston Jr. (Jamie); her mother, | ||||||
| 3 | Margaret Dorsey; her sister, Frances Tompkins (Patrick); her | ||||||
| 4 | brothers, Curtis Dorsey (Barbara) and Marvin Dorsey; her | ||||||
| 5 | uncles, Fred Hollingsworth, Mel Dorsey, and Dean Dorsey; her | ||||||
| 6 | aunt, Maria McNulty; her sisters-in-law, Jackie Dorsey and | ||||||
| 7 | Doris Brunner; her brothers-in-law, Curtis Winston, Ronald | ||||||
| 8 | Winston, and Gregory Winston; her very close friends, Jill | ||||||
| 9 | Figgins and Laura Bonds; and her many aunts, uncles, cousins, | ||||||
| 10 | and friends; therefore, be it

| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 13 | her family and friends, the passing of Joan Y. "Joanie" | ||||||
| 14 | Winston; and be it further

| 15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to the family of Joan Winston as an expression of our | ||||||
| 17 | sympathy.
