| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Carol Marie Gaines, who passed away on | ||||||
| 4 | July 7, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Carol Gaines, the daughter of Gertie Dunkin, was | ||||||
| 6 | born in Chicago on April 19, 1947; she was raised in the | ||||||
| 7 | Cabrini-Green neighborhood of Chicago and attended Cooley High | ||||||
| 8 | School; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Carol Gaines was a fierce protector of her family | ||||||
| 10 | and those she loved; she was known for her uplifting spirit, | ||||||
| 11 | her straightforward nature, and for being the life of the | ||||||
| 12 | party; she will be remembered for her kindness, passion, | ||||||
| 13 | resilience, unwavering determination, and strong character; | ||||||
| 14 | and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Carol Gaines was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 16 | children, Joseph Dunkin, Ruben Dunkin, and Tiny Dunkin; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Carol Gaines is survived by her children, Kenneth | ||||||
| 18 | "Ken" Dunkin, Michael Dunkin, and LaTasha Dunkin; a host of | ||||||
| 19 | grandchildren; her extended relatives and friends; and her | ||||||
| 20 | special friend, Pops; therefore, be it | ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 3 | Carol Marie Gaines and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 4 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 5 | further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Carol Gaines as an expression of our | ||||||
