| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Kamaria Laurette Gross, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on April 26, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross was born to Karen Laurette Bozeman | ||||||
| 6 | and James Oliver Gross in Chicago on January 24, 1984; she | ||||||
| 7 | attended the Beasley Academy Center; she graduated from | ||||||
| 8 | Whitney Young High School with honors in 2002, where she was | ||||||
| 9 | involved in extracurricular activities, including as a member | ||||||
| 10 | of the dance team and co-captain of the pompon squad; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross attended business school and earned | ||||||
| 12 | a bachelor's degree from the school of communications at | ||||||
| 13 | Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she was inducted | ||||||
| 14 | into the Global Ambassadors Program, traveling to Austria, the | ||||||
| 15 | Czech Republic, and Hungary and was a member of the Alpha Kappa | ||||||
| 16 | Alpha Sorority, Alpha Chapter; she later received a master's | ||||||
| 17 | degree in human resources from Loyola Business School in May | ||||||
| 18 | 2011; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross completed two summer internships at | ||||||
| 20 | the Chicago Housing Authority; she also worked in human | ||||||
| 21 | resources at the University of Chicago Regenstein Library, | ||||||
| 22 | with vendor compliance at the Chicago Housing Authority, and | ||||||

| 1 | in vender contract compliance and management with the security | ||||||
| 2 | department of the Chicago Transit Authority; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross is survived by her parents; her | ||||||
| 4 | daughter, Kaiden Collins; her partner and friend, Michael | ||||||
| 5 | Collins; her siblings, Jabari Gross and Robyn Wheatley McCoy; | ||||||
| 6 | her aunts, Melissa Bozeman Wolfsohn, Levada Gross Moore, and | ||||||
| 7 | Evelyn Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; | ||||||
| 8 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Kamaria Laurette Gross and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 12 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 13 | further | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of Kamaria Gross as an expression of | ||||||
| 16 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
