| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Tamer Lee Lois Williams Gonzalez of | ||||||
| 4 | Chicago, who passed away on April 11, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez was born to Cassiette and | ||||||
| 6 | Christopher Williams in Peoria on July 19, 1991; she attended | ||||||
| 7 | the Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Center in Peoria; as a | ||||||
| 8 | child, she took ballet and tap lessons and participated in | ||||||
| 9 | softball; after relocating to Champaign, she entered second | ||||||
| 10 | grade at Holy Cross Catholic School before transferring to Dr. | ||||||
| 11 | Howard Elementary School; she began learning the violin and | ||||||
| 12 | attended summer music camps at the University of Illinois; she | ||||||
| 13 | was selected for the gifted program within Champaign Unit 4 | ||||||
| 14 | School District; she played the piano and violin by the time | ||||||
| 15 | she was eight years old, and she eventually learned how to play | ||||||
| 16 | the harp, viola, and clarinet, mastering every instrument by | ||||||
| 17 | 6th grade; she accompanied her mother to the University of | ||||||
| 18 | Illinois Black Chorus classes, where she developed as a singer | ||||||
| 19 | by studying the songs being performed; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez relocated to Chicago on August | ||||||
| 21 | 12, 2004; she joined the new music program at St. Sabina | ||||||
| 22 | Academy, where she received the Kuumba Award; she completed | ||||||
| 23 | her freshman year at John Marshall High School, where she took | ||||||

| 1 | piano and choir classes; during her high school career, she | ||||||
| 2 | was an active participant in After School Matters with the HHW | ||||||
| 3 | Ensemble, and she was featured in Ebony and JET magazines and | ||||||
| 4 | the Chicago Defender; she graduated from Hyde Park Academy and | ||||||
| 5 | the Merit School of Music in 2009; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez enrolled as a music major at | ||||||
| 7 | Valparaiso University in Indiana, where her professors | ||||||
| 8 | encouraged her to sing instead of playing the violin, and she | ||||||
| 9 | left the university and took classes at a community college; | ||||||
| 10 | she became a mother to her son, Jordan-Amman Isiah | ||||||
| 11 | West-Williams, on November 20, 2011; she continued auditioning | ||||||
| 12 | for larger music venues, and her last audition for The Voice | ||||||
| 13 | was the final time she attempted to sing for a popular | ||||||
| 14 | television program; she married DeAndre "Dre" X, and they | ||||||
| 15 | divorced after her health began to fail; she later married | ||||||
| 16 | Milton Gonzalez in March 2024; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez committed to her faith at an | ||||||
| 18 | early age, and she was baptized at St. Martin de Porres | ||||||
| 19 | Catholic Church in Peoria; while residing in Champaign, she | ||||||
| 20 | attended The Church of the Living God, where she played the | ||||||
| 21 | violin, specifically Suzuki songs, at the beginning of church | ||||||
| 22 | services and sang in the children's choir for six years; after | ||||||
| 23 | moving to Chicago, she began attending Saturday mass at Saint | ||||||
| 24 | Sabina Church and Sunday service at St. Mark AME Zion Church | ||||||

| 1 | until after she became a mother; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez was a dedicated volunteer in | ||||||
| 3 | her community, a gifted musician and singer, and a beloved | ||||||
| 4 | daughter, mother, and wife; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 6 | grandmother, Madeline Boney West, and her godparents, Sam Polk | ||||||
| 7 | and Jean Polk; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez is survived by her parents, | ||||||
| 9 | Cassiette West-Williams and Christopher R. Williams; her son, | ||||||
| 10 | Jordan-Amman Isiah "JA" West-Williams; her husband, Milton | ||||||
| 11 | Gonzalez; her favorite paternal cousin, Heather Raymo; her | ||||||
| 12 | favorite female maternal cousin, Delia West; her favorite male | ||||||
| 13 | cousins, Jordan West and Amman West; and her aunts, uncles, | ||||||
| 14 | cousins, relatives, neighbors from the 76th Street Cregier | ||||||
| 15 | Block, and friends; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Tamer Lee Lois Williams Gonzalez and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 19 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 20 | her; and be it further | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
