SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Tamer Lee Lois Williams Gonzalez of
4Chicago, who passed away on April 11, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez was born to Cassiette and
6Christopher Williams in Peoria on July 19, 1991; she attended
7the Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Center in Peoria; as a
8child, she took ballet and tap lessons and participated in
9softball; after relocating to Champaign, she entered second
10grade at Holy Cross Catholic School before transferring to Dr.
11Howard Elementary School; she began learning the violin and
12attended summer music camps at the University of Illinois; she
13was selected for the gifted program within Champaign Unit 4
14School District; she played the piano and violin by the time
15she was eight years old, and she eventually learned how to play
16the harp, viola, and clarinet, mastering every instrument by
176th grade; she accompanied her mother to the University of
18Illinois Black Chorus classes, where she developed as a singer
19by studying the songs being performed; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez relocated to Chicago on August
2112, 2004; she joined the new music program at St. Sabina
22Academy, where she received the Kuumba Award; she completed
23her freshman year at John Marshall High School, where she took

1piano and choir classes; during her high school career, she
2was an active participant in After School Matters with the HHW
3Ensemble, and she was featured in Ebony and JET magazines and
4the Chicago Defender; she graduated from Hyde Park Academy and
5the Merit School of Music in 2009; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez enrolled as a music major at
7Valparaiso University in Indiana, where her professors
8encouraged her to sing instead of playing the violin, and she
9left the university and took classes at a community college;
10she became a mother to her son, Jordan-Amman Isiah
11West-Williams, on November 20, 2011; she continued auditioning
12for larger music venues, and her last audition for The Voice
13was the final time she attempted to sing for a popular
14television program; she married DeAndre "Dre" X, and they
15divorced after her health began to fail; she later married
16Milton Gonzalez in March 2024; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez committed to her faith at an
18early age, and she was baptized at St. Martin de Porres
19Catholic Church in Peoria; while residing in Champaign, she
20attended The Church of the Living God, where she played the
21violin, specifically Suzuki songs, at the beginning of church
22services and sang in the children's choir for six years; after
23moving to Chicago, she began attending Saturday mass at Saint
24Sabina Church and Sunday service at St. Mark AME Zion Church

1until after she became a mother; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez was a dedicated volunteer in
3her community, a gifted musician and singer, and a beloved
4daughter, mother, and wife; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez was preceded in death by her
6grandmother, Madeline Boney West, and her godparents, Sam Polk
7and Jean Polk; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tamer Lee Gonzalez is survived by her parents,
9Cassiette West-Williams and Christopher R. Williams; her son,
10Jordan-Amman Isiah "JA" West-Williams; her husband, Milton
11Gonzalez; her favorite paternal cousin, Heather Raymo; her
12favorite female maternal cousin, Delia West; her favorite male
13cousins, Jordan West and Amman West; and her aunts, uncles,
14cousins, relatives, neighbors from the 76th Street Cregier
15Block, and friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Tamer Lee Lois Williams Gonzalez and extend our sincere
19condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20her; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
