SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Donald "Don" L. Tanner of Rapids City,
who passed away on February 10, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Don Tanner was born to Donald E. and Maxine
(Francis) Tanner in Hillsdale on November 24, 1935; he served
his country honorably in the U.S. Army; he married Elaine
Miller Baker on November 19, 1971; and
WHEREAS, Don Tanner first worked at GE in Morrison and
then went to work in the stock room at Ametek in East Moline
for 11 years; he then spent the next several years working with
his brother Robert, running the Phillips 66 Station in
Cordova; he spent the last 20 years of his working career as a
security guard for Illini Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Don Tanner enjoyed playing and coaching softball;
he liked going camping, especially at Sunset Lakes, and he
loved family vacations; he was proud of his yard and enjoyed
working in it; most importantly, he enjoyed time spent with
his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Don Tanner was preceded in death by his parents;
his stepmother, Eileen Tanner; his brothers, Robert and Jerry

Tanner; and his son-in-law, Robert Sisul; and
WHEREAS, Don Tanner is survived by his wife, Elaine; his
children, Deanna (Scott) Nickel, Cheryl Sisul, and Craig
Tanner; his grandchildren, Hope Tanner, Shane Hansen, Casey
Sisul, Brenden Tanner, and Skylar Schulz; his
great-grandchildren, Roman and Rylee Land; his brothers, Paul
(Ronda) Tanner and Terry (Lisa) Tanner; his stepsisters, Sandi
Henyan and Linda (Skip) Dillin; and his sisters-in-law,
Frances and Judy Tanner; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Donald "Don" L. Tanner and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Don Tanner as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
