2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Chicago Police Department Captain James | ||||||
4 | Alan LaVoy, of Mt. Greenwood, who passed away on August 13, | ||||||
5 | 2017; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Captain LaVoy joined the Chicago Police | ||||||
7 | Department over 25 years ago; he served the Fifth District | ||||||
8 | (Calumet) and worked in the Chicago Police Department's crisis | ||||||
9 | intervention training programs and helped with programs at the | ||||||
10 | Chicago Police Academy; previously, he worked as a lieutenant | ||||||
11 | in the 22nd District (Morgan Park); and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Captain LaVoy was an inspiration to his | ||||||
13 | colleagues; he was a role model and leader who valued public | ||||||
14 | service and the community; he defended the defenseless and | ||||||
15 | ensured the safety of the people of Chicago; during his career, | ||||||
16 | he earned 65 awards, commendations, ribbons, and honorable | ||||||
17 | mentions; he was steadfast and true to the oath he took as a | ||||||
18 | Chicago police officer; and

19 | WHEREAS, Captain LaVoy was the beloved husband of Kimberly | ||||||
20 | (Jabczynski) LaVoy; the devoted father of Jessica and Alex; the | ||||||
21 | loving son of June and George Wright; the dearest brother of | ||||||
22 | the late Thomas Simunjak; the proud uncle of Brooke, Emily, |

1 | Kayla, Danielle, Ashley, and Andy; the great uncle of Landon, | ||||||
2 | MacKenzie, and Kai; the fond brother-in-law of Dennis (Julie) | ||||||
3 | Jabczynski; he was loved by many other family members, | ||||||
4 | co-workers, and friends; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Captain James Alan LaVoy, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
8 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
