| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Charles S. Olsen of Richmond, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on July 13, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was born on July 6, 1929 in | ||||||
| 6 | Ringwood; his parents were Elmer and Emily (nee Beatty) Olsen; | ||||||
| 7 | he married Mildred "Millie" Howe on October 19, 1958 in Redwood | ||||||
| 8 | Falls, Minnesota; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was a graduate of Richmond High | ||||||
| 10 | School in 1947, graduating fourth in his class; he was also a | ||||||
| 11 | member of the National Honor Society; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was a dairy farmer; he farmed with | ||||||
| 13 | his dad for several years before farming in partnership with | ||||||
| 14 | his brother for many years until his retirement in 2009; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was a member of Ringwood United | ||||||
| 16 | Methodist Church in Ringwood and served as a trustee of the | ||||||
| 17 | church and on various committees; he was a member and president | ||||||
| 18 | of the McHenry County Farm Bureau from 1989 to 1991; he drove a | ||||||
| 19 | school bus for the Richmond-Burton School District for 18 | ||||||
| 20 | years; he also served on the Richmond Grade School Board for 6 | ||||||
| 21 | years in the early 1970s; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Charles Olsen served in the United States Army in | ||||||
| 2 | the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal; he participated | ||||||
| 3 | in VetsRoll.org in May of 2015; he was also a member of Paul C. | ||||||
| 4 | Hoffman American Legion Post #253; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Charles Olsen is survived by 3 daughters, Ann | ||||||
| 6 | (Juhani) Puistolahti, Amy (Rob) Olson, and Irene Olsen; a son, | ||||||
| 7 | Alan (Judy) Olsen; 7 grandchildren; and a brother, Del (Donna) | ||||||
| 8 | Olsen; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 11 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles S. Olsen; and | ||||||
| 12 | be it further

| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of Charles Olsen as an expression of | ||||||
| 15 | our sympathy.
