SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy Bischke of Harvard, who passed
4away on August 3, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Dorothy Bischke was born in Ringle, Wisconsin to
6Siebren and Johanna (Tepaske) Hettinga on August 14, 1920; she
7was employed in a defense factory during World War II and
8married William Bischke on April 28, 1944; and
9 WHEREAS, Dorothy Bischke was a homemaker and worked at the
10Admiral Plant in Harvard for a time; she and her husband farmed
11for many years; and
12 WHEREAS, Dorothy Bischke was a member of Trinity Lutheran
13Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years; she also
14served in the Altar Guild and was president of the Trinity
15League for four years and Circle Chairman; she was a member of
16the Women of the Moose and Golden Agers; she served as an
17election judge for Dunham Township for 35 years and collected
18donations for the American Heart Association for many years;
19and
20 WHEREAS, Dorothy Bischke was preceded in death by her
21parents; her husband, William Bischke; her brothers, Andrew and

1Robert Hettinga; her sisters, Jennie Dittbrender, Della
2Peterson, Agnes Street, Catherine Kashuta, and Mildred
3Hettinga; and her sisters-in-law, Nan Hettinga, Ruth Kurth, and
4Ida Juenger; and
5 WHEREAS, Dorothy Bischke is survived by her children, Rita
6(Ronald) Layman and Dennis Bischke; her grandchildren, Curtis
7(Lorrie) Layman, Christine (Daniel) Williams, Cameron
8(Shantel) Layman, Corey Bishcke, and Aaron (Jennifer) Bischke;
912 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and
10numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Dorothy Bischke, and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dorothy Bischke as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
