SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Scott Anthony Miller of Little Rock,
Arkansas, formerly of Rochester, who passed away on April 22,
2010; and
WHEREAS, Scott Anthony Miller was born July 21, 1957, in
Belleville, to Bob and Gerry Miller; he married MaryBeth, nee
Eschman, Miller on July 13, 1985; and
WHEREAS, Scott was a standout athlete as a member of the
Belleville Township High School West Class of 1975; he played
with the 1975 Belleville Hillgards American Legion State
baseball champions; he attended Eastern Illinois University in
Charleston, earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting,
and began a 23 year career with the State of Illinois in 1982;
and
WHEREAS, He worked as a travel aide to Governor Jim
Thompson before ascending through various positions in the
Department of Banks and Trusts and the Department of Revenue;
he left the State of Illinois and joined Fast Enterprises in
2005; in 2008, Fast Enterprises moved Scott and his family to
Little Rock as the project director for the AIRS project; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his professional career, Scott was
a founding partner in Rochester Investments, Ltd., Milldale,
Ltd., and The ALF Group, developers of the Wyndcrest
assisted-living community; he was a member of Christ the King
Catholic Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, and a former member
of the Church of St. Jude in Rochester, where he served as a
member of the pastoral council and the Knights of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, Scott was a true gentleman who exemplified the
highest character and a tasteful style; friends, employees, and
associates remember his enthusiastic leadership, fairness,
honesty, and integrity; he was a member of the YMCA and various
recreational basketball and softball teams; he loved spending
time with his family, landscaping, and home improvement
projects, golf, and watching sports on TV, especially the St.
Louis Cardinals; and
WHEREAS, Scott was preceded in death by his paternal
grandparents, Art and Ethel Miller; and maternal grandparents,
Frank and Sophie Krystoff; and
WHEREAS, Scott Miller is survived by his wife, MaryBeth;
his children, Eric, Allison, and Meredith; his parents; his
brother, Jeff (Pam) Miller; his sisters, Debbie (Chuck)
Schumacher and Diane (Kevin) McCarkel; his in-laws, Carl and
Marilyn Eschman; his brothers-in-law, Dave, Greg (Vicki), Jeff

(Kelly), and Todd (Shelly) Eschman; his 18 nieces and nephews;
his aunts and uncles; his cousins; his brothers and
sisters-in-law; and his many friends; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Scott Miller; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Scott Miller as a symbol of our
sincere sympathy.
