| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Paul J. Weldon, who passed away on May | ||||||
4 | 24, 2021 at the age of 64; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was born on November 30, 1956, the | ||||||
6 | fifth of six children of Bill and Patricia Weldon; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was raised in River Forest, where he | ||||||
8 | attended St. Lukes and Roosevelt Middle School and later | ||||||
9 | graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon continued his education, graduating | ||||||
11 | from Loyola University Chicago in 1978 and then receiving his | ||||||
12 | master's degree in Business Administration from Roosevelt | ||||||
13 | University in Chicago; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon became the sole proprietor of Van | ||||||
15 | Bergen & Greener Inc. after his father's passing in 1988; Van | ||||||
16 | Bergen & Greener, located in Maywood, is an automotive | ||||||
17 | manufacturing company known for being the only U.S. | ||||||
18 | manufacturer of starter drives and starter drive components; | ||||||
19 | and

20 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon handled his business and private |

| |||||||
1 | affairs as a thoughtful and generous man; he was described by | ||||||
2 | friends and family as an optimistic, reliable, and kind man | ||||||
3 | who had a warm smile and generous heart; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was a deeply religious man who was | ||||||
5 | inspired by the lives of Mother Teresa, Padre Pio, John Paul | ||||||
6 | II, and St. Faustina; he always made sure to live his faith and | ||||||
7 | was a generous supporter of many Catholic charities; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was preceded in death by his first | ||||||
9 | wife, Bernadette Treacy Weldon; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Paul Weldon was | ||||||
11 | survived by his wife, Diane Schikora Tentler Weldon; his three | ||||||
12 | children, Matthew, Treacy (Dan) O'Keefe, and Marirose; his | ||||||
13 | wife's three children, Robert, David, and Julie Tentler; his | ||||||
14 | five siblings, Mary Pat (Ken) Woitas, Maureen Weldon, Bill | ||||||
15 | (the late Madonna) Weldon, Madeleine (Mike) Weldon-Linne, and | ||||||
16 | Michele Weldon; his in-laws, William (Deborah) Treacy, Barbara | ||||||
17 | Treacy, Rosemary Treacy, Mary Pat (Jeff) Sutter, and Sharon | ||||||
18 | Carroll; and his 27 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
21 | Paul J. Weldon and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
22 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |

2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
