SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Joan F. Evers of Edwardsville, who
passed away on January 19, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers was born to Edward and Cleo (Kinder)
Foehrkalb in Granite City on August 11, 1936; she graduated
from the University of Southern California; she married
Kenneth L. Evers in Edwardsville on May 29, 1971, and he
preceded her in death on September 26, 1996; and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers worked in her parents' stores,
Foehrkalb Printers and Foehrkalb's Gift Shop, in downtown
Edwardsville after her college graduation; she then worked at
Florists' Mutual for 40 years, retiring as a vice-president of
Outside Sales; and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers became very active with the Friends of
the Wildey organization and the renovation of the Wildey
Theater in Edwardsville; she enjoyed being the historian of
the Wildey Theater, giving tours, speaking to several
organizations, and volunteering many hours at the theater; and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers was also active in supporting the
Madison County Historical Society Museum and the Friends of

Lovejoy Library; she spent over 40 years of her life as a
church organist on Sundays; she also played for the
Edwardsville Rotary Club each week, where she was a member;
and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers was known for her kind heart and
willingness to always help others; she will be remembered for
being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother;
and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers was preceded in death by her husband
and parents; and
WHEREAS, Joan Evers is survived by her sons, Scott (Janna)
Evers and Kenny (Cheri) Evers; her grandchildren, Matt (Kara)
Evers, Kevin Evers, and Emily (Josh) Whitt; and her
great-grandchildren, Kenlee Evers, Connor Evers, Dreamer
Whitt, and Journey Whitt; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Joan F. Evers and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to the family of Joan Evers as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
