SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Kenneth C. Donoghue of Pearl River, New
York, who passed away on June 23, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Donoghue was born in New York City to
Richard and Marguerite Donoghue on June 16, 1927; he served in
the United States Navy during World War II and received his
bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Notre
Dame; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Donoghue worked for NBC News as a
producer, covering stories all across the world for 30 years;
he retired in 1988; and
WHEREAS, For years, Kenneth Donoghue volunteered four days
a week at the Meals on Wheels Bobbi Lewis Center; he was named
as a Volunteer of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Donoghue loved to travel and enjoyed
spending time with his children and grandchildren; he was an
avid walker, reader, bridge player, and lover of nature; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Donoghue is survived by his wife of 58
years, Gloria Donoghue; his children, Sue Massaro (Peter), Mary

Caughlin (Keith), and Tom Donoghue (Nora); and his
grandchildren, Nick, Tim, Chris, Dennis, Steven, Cole, and
Robbie; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Kenneth C. Donoghue, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Kenneth Donoghue as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
