2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Kenneth O. "Ken" Udehn of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 21, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ken Udehn was born in Moline on December 16, 1923 | ||||||
6 | to Axel and Nellie Safe Udehn; he attended Moline High School | ||||||
7 | and married E. Lucille Johnson on April 5, 1947 in Moline; he | ||||||
8 | later married Donna Dumolien Parks Atkinson on January 12, 2001 | ||||||
9 | in Moline; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Ken Udehn worked as a building inspector for the | ||||||
11 | City of Moline for 25 years, retiring in August of 1989; prior | ||||||
12 | to that, he worked as a carpenter; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Ken Udehn proudly served in the United States Army | ||||||
14 | during World War II; he was an accommodated member and Flotilla | ||||||
15 | Commander for many years with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; | ||||||
16 | during his time as a Flotilla Commander, he escorted the | ||||||
17 | President of the United States on the Mississippi River from | ||||||
18 | Dubuque, Iowa to St. Louis, Missouri with a security patrol; he | ||||||
19 | was a member of the Moline Veterans of Foreign Wars and the | ||||||
20 | Moline American Legion; and

21 | WHEREAS, Ken Udehn was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran |

1 | Church in Moline and attended Christ the King Catholic Church | ||||||
2 | in Moline; he taught an apprentice carpenter class at Black | ||||||
3 | Hawk College; he enjoyed fishing, archery, golf, camping, and | ||||||
4 | crossword puzzles; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ken Udehn was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
6 | his first wife, E. Lucille Udehn; his brother, Dr. Carlyle | ||||||
7 | Udehn; and his sister, Dorthea Nelson; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Ken Udehn is survived by his wife, Donna; his | ||||||
9 | daughters, Fonda Redell and Laura (Tom) Burke; his son, Thomas | ||||||
10 | C. Udehn; his 5 grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his 8 | ||||||
11 | stepchildren, Lynda Parks, Cyndi Klingaman, Dawn Clark, Vickie | ||||||
12 | Andersen, Janet Parks, Randy Parks, Sue Klingaman, and John | ||||||
13 | Parks; his 16 step-grandchildren; and his 23 | ||||||
14 | step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Kenneth O. "Ken" Udehn, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
18 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Ken Udehn as an expression of our | ||||||
22 | deepest sympathy.
