| 2 | WHEREAS, Latino communities have long celebrated both | ||||||
| 3 | large and small accomplishments, recognizing that many of our | ||||||
| 4 | families have had to overcome significant barriers in pursuit | ||||||
| 5 | of opportunity; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, We are taught to appreciate those who extend | ||||||
| 7 | their hands to help others and to recognize the importance of | ||||||
| 8 | community support in overcoming hardship; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, It is important for elected officials, | ||||||
| 10 | legislators, and community leaders to uplift our heritage and | ||||||
| 11 | sacrifices of those who came before us; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Latino leaders in government have a | ||||||
| 13 | responsibility to use their voices and positions to advocate | ||||||
| 14 | for their communities, their histories, and their lived | ||||||
| 15 | experiences, especially while representation remains limited; | ||||||
| 16 | and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, In recent months, communities across Illinois | ||||||
| 18 | have experienced fear and uncertainty that have deeply | ||||||
| 19 | affected families, neighborhoods, and children; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Rapid responders across Illinois have stepped | ||||||

| 1 | forward to protect vulnerable immigrant families, aiding them | ||||||
| 2 | in urgent situations with bravery; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Despite our differences, communities continue to | ||||||
| 4 | come together to defend hardworking families striving for | ||||||
| 5 | safety, stability, and the opportunity to pursue the American | ||||||
| 6 | Dream; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Many immigrant families continue to face barriers | ||||||
| 8 | in achieving that dream; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Rapid responders continue to provide hope and | ||||||
| 10 | inspiration, reminding us that the future can be strengthened | ||||||
| 11 | through humanity, unity, and collective action; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, In times of fear and injustice, communities can | ||||||
| 13 | come together, set aside differences, and stand united in | ||||||
| 14 | defense of dignity and human rights; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the rapid | ||||||
| 17 | responders of Illinois for their dedication, courage, and | ||||||
| 18 | unwavering commitment to protecting and uplifting communities; | ||||||
