| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Earlene Range, who passed away on July 7, | ||||||
4 | 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Earlene Range was born on September 8, 1956 in | ||||||
6 | Chicago; her parents were Cleo Smith and Joann White; she | ||||||
7 | married Edward Range, Sr. on September 18, 1976; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Earlene Range attended James Wadsworth Elementary | ||||||
9 | School and graduated from Hype Park Academy in 1974; she also | ||||||
10 | attended the Computer System Institute, where she majored in | ||||||
11 | business; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, As a teenager, Earlene Range worked at a tackle | ||||||
13 | shop; later in life, she worked at numerous jobs, including | ||||||
14 | Nelson Brothers Furniture, Heilig Meyers Furniture, the AAA | ||||||
15 | Motor Club, and the American Dental Hygienist Association; and

16 | WHEREAS, At the age of 12, Earlene Range was baptized and | ||||||
17 | joined the Lower Light Missionary Baptist Church under the | ||||||
18 | leadership of the late Fred Gregory; after years of fellowship | ||||||
19 | at Lower Light, she joined New Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist | ||||||
20 | Church under the pastorate of her son, Rev. Edward E. Range, | ||||||
21 | Jr.; on April 29, 2012, she moved her membership to St. Paul |

1 | Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Joel D. | ||||||
2 | Taylor; at St. Paul, she served as Vice President of the Women | ||||||
3 | Intermediate Auxiliary and the Men's and Women Choirs; she also | ||||||
4 | attended weekly Wednesday night Bible classes; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Earlene Range enjoyed spending the weekends at her | ||||||
6 | mother-in-law's house, participating in family functions, | ||||||
7 | traveling, and spending time with her son, her grandchildren, | ||||||
8 | and her church family; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Earlene Range was preceded in death by her | ||||||
10 | parents; her grandparents; and 4 brothers-in-law, Elias, | ||||||
11 | Halford, Halvord, and David; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Earlene Range is survived by her husband, Edward, | ||||||
13 | Sr.; her son, Rev. Edward Range, Jr.; a grandson, Errik Range; | ||||||
14 | a daughter, Yolanda (Michael) Maura; an aunt, Carmen (Tyrone) | ||||||
15 | Oakley; 4 grandchildren, Burnell and Jazmine Gatlin and | ||||||
16 | Michaela and Mekhi Maura; 3 special sons, Peter Taylor, Keith | ||||||
17 | Brown, and Vernon Vickers; 11 brothers and sisters-in-law, | ||||||
18 | Shirley Dodd, Barbara Jackson, Frances, Lolieta, Mary Jane, | ||||||
19 | Hermein (Hal) Baskin, Marietta, David, Lloyd, Paul (Mary), and | ||||||
20 | Shaneice; 3 special friends, Julia Mahan, Angelo Nutall, and | ||||||
21 | Julie Pickens; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and | ||||||
22 | friends; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
3 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Earlene Range; and be | ||||||
4 | it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Earlene Range as an expression of | ||||||
7 | our sympathy.
