| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Paul C. Stout of Chatham, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on May 3, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He was born February 15, 1922; his parents were | ||||||
| 6 | Frank Lewis Stout and Katherine Bellinger Edwards; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from Ball Township High School in 1939 and from the University | ||||||
| 8 | of Illinois College of Agriculture in 1943 with a B.S. degree; | ||||||
| 9 | and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, He served 3 years as Ball Township Trustee and was | ||||||
| 11 | a member for 4 years of the first Soybean Promotion Board, | ||||||
| 12 | which was the first check-off program in Illinois; he served as | ||||||
| 13 | a member of the Producers Livestock Commission Board at the | ||||||
| 14 | Springfield stockyards, and was a member of the committee that | ||||||
| 15 | helped write the first zoning laws for Sangamon County; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, He served on the Sangamon County Farm Bureau board | ||||||
| 17 | for 3 years as president and was on the Ball Chatham school | ||||||
| 18 | board for 7 years, during which time Glenwood High School was | ||||||
| 19 | built; he was a member of First United Methodist Church in | ||||||
| 20 | Springfield for 57 years, serving in many capacities before | ||||||
| 21 | transferring to Sugar Creek Methodist Church in Chatham in | ||||||
| 22 | 2003; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, He was secretary-treasurer of the Philemon Stout | ||||||
| 2 | Cemetery Association for 50 years; he was also a member of the | ||||||
| 3 | University of Illinois President's Council and held season | ||||||
| 4 | football and basketball tickets for over 40 years; on April 29, | ||||||
| 5 | 2012, he was inducted into the Glenwood High School Hall of | ||||||
| 6 | Fame, where he was selected in the Lifetime Recognition | ||||||
| 7 | category; he gave a brief address on the history of the school | ||||||
| 8 | district during his induction; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Paul Stout is survived by his daughter, Dorothy | ||||||
| 11 | Jean Culver (Tom); his son, Richard Paul Stout (Ellen); his | ||||||
| 12 | brother, James Stout (Patricia); his sister, Jean Stout Chase | ||||||
| 13 | (Ted); his granddaughters, Beth Foster (Aaron), Christina | ||||||
| 14 | Culver (fiance, Mike), and Emily Stout; his step-daughters, | ||||||
| 15 | Susan Moore (Mike) and Nancy Teates (Cory); his stepson, | ||||||
| 16 | Michael Bramlet; his great-grandson; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 | ||||||
| 17 | step-great-grandchildren; and Marcella Poludniak, his special | ||||||
| 18 | friend of many years; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 21 | his family and friends, the passing of Paul Stout; and be it | ||||||
| 22 | further

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to the family of Paul Stout as a symbol of our | ||||||
