| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Bernard Daniel "Bud" Godfrey Jr., who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 4, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bernard Godfrey was a native of West Virginia; he | ||||||
6 | was a state Golden Gloves boxing champion and graduated from | ||||||
7 | McAlpin High School; he served his country as a member of the | ||||||
8 | United States Army 82nd Airborne Division; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bernard Godfrey retired from JI | ||||||
10 | Case-International Harvester after 27 years as a machinist and | ||||||
11 | immediately returned to work as a driver for MetroLink, from | ||||||
12 | which he retired after eight years of service; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bernard Godfrey relived his love for parachuting | ||||||
14 | on Father's Day 2003 at the age of 67; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Bernard Godfrey was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | mother, Eva Ruth; his father, Bernard Daniel Godfrey; and his | ||||||
17 | sister; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Bernard Godfrey is survived by his wife of 42 | ||||||
19 | years, Patricia Louise Godfrey; his children, Donna, Darrin, | ||||||
20 | Susan, and Sharrie Godfrey and John Robertson; eight |

| |||||||
1 | grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three | ||||||
2 | great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
5 | Bernard Daniel "Bud" Godfrey Jr., and extend our sincere | ||||||
6 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
7 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Bernard Godfrey as an expression of | ||||||
10 | our deepest sympathy.
