SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Charles F. Bechtold of Godfrey, who
passed away on April 22, 2012; and
WHEREAS, He was born September 16, 1926, in Dow, the son of
Frank and Mary (Cronin) Bechtold; on October 10, 1959, he
married the former Helen Marie Justison at St. Ambrose Catholic
Church; and
WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army 25th Infantry
and was a lifetime member of the 25th Infantry 38th Division;
he was also a member of the VFW Post 1308, a member and past
president of the Retirees Machinist Union Local 660 Club, and a
member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey; and
WHEREAS, He retired from the Brass Mill at the Olin
Corporation; he was an avid gardener and was friendly,
well-liked, and never met a stranger; and
WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard,
Francis, Elmer, Albert, and Clarence Bechtold; and his sisters,
Lavina Rue and Dorothy "Dolly" Carlisle; and
WHEREAS, Charles Bechtold is survived by his wife, Helen;

his daughter, Dianne M. Gordon (Dave); his son, Eric J.
Bechtold (Tonya); his grandchildren, Tyler Henry Boren and Seth
Charles Boren; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Charles Bechtold; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Charles Bechtold as a symbol of our
sincere sympathy.
