SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Ruth D. (Varnau) Wetekam of Crystal Lake,
who passed away on July 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Wetekam was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April
8, 1926; she married Harry Wetekam in 1948; they settled in
Crystal Lake in 1973; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Wetekam worked in the front office of the
Country Gas Company for nearly two decades; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Wetekam and her husband were members of First
Congregational Church of Crystal Lake, where she dedicated much
of her time to the church and the Women's Fellowship; she had a
love of gardening and delighted in visiting flower gardens in
various locales; she also enjoyed traveling with friends on
cruise ships; her greatest pride was raising her children and
being devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS, Ruth Wetekam was preceded in death by her husband,
Harry; her brother, William; and by her parents; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Wetekam is survived by her children, Donald

(Sheri), James (Nijjy), and Nancy (John); her grandchildren,
Noelle, Daniel, Sarah, LeAna, Adam, and Andrew; and six
great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Ruth D. Wetekam, and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Ruth Wetekam as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
