SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Mary Ann Jereb (nee Slana) of Grayslake,
4 who passed away on February 26, 2010; and
5 WHEREAS, She was born on July 23, 1933 in North Chicago;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, She had been employed by the U.S. Navy at Great
8 Lakes, the USAF in Tokyo, Japan for 2 years, Mother of God
9 School, and the Knollwood Country Club in Lake Forest; she was
10 a former member of Mother of God and Queen of Peace Churches
11 and was currently a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation in
12 Mundelein; and
13 WHEREAS, She graduated from Mother of God School and Holy
14 Child High School and belonged to many organizations: she was
15 Lector and Eucharistic Minister at her church; a member of the
16 AARP; a lifetime member of St. Joseph #53 KSKJ, where she had
17 been a Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and Financial
18 Secretary, and a Director on the National Board of KSKJ; in
19 addition, she was a member of the American Slovenic Catholic
20 Union (1991-2007); St. Mary's Church Women's Club; American
21 Legion Sharvin Post Auxillary; Slovenian Women's Union;
22 Slovenic National Home Club; and the Saddlebrook Trotter's

2 WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor
3 and Jennie Slana; her sister, Jennie Slana; her brother,
4 Laurence Slana; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Parks; and
5 WHEREAS, Mary Ann Jereb is survived by her husband, William
6 Jereb; her three daughters, Jean Marie (Mark) Parks, Julie Ann
7 (Richard) Romano, and Jeri Ellen (Jim) Foster; her seven
8 grandchildren, Jori and Jamie Parks, Ricky and Jackie Romano,
9 and Seth, Morgan, and Dylan Foster; her brother, Victor
10 (Regina) Slana; and her sister-in-law, Natalie Slana;
11 therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 her family and friends, the passing of Mary Ann Jereb; and be
15 it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Mary Ann Jereb as a symbol of our
18 sincere sympathy.
