SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kurt R. Maas of Woodstock, who passed
4away on July 3, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Kurt Maas was born in Chicago to Theodore and
6Doris (Lehman) Mass on April 26, 1946; he was baptized in 1946
7at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Chicago; he was confirmed in
81960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookfield; he joined the
9United States Marine Corps in 1964, serving two tours of duty
10in Vietnam; after three years of service, he returned home and
11received his high school diploma from Riverside Brookfield High
12School; and
13 WHEREAS, Kurt Maas owned and operated a very successful
14nursery and landscaping business for many years; he spent his
15later years working in the real estate industry; and
16 WHEREAS, Kurt Maas married Jane Stack on February 25, 1995;
17and
18 WHEREAS, Kurt Maas was preceded in death by his parents;
19and
20 WHEREAS, Kurt Maas is survived by his wife, Jane Maas; his

1children, Ronald Maas and Khristy Lester; his twin sister,
2Karren (Rev. Paul) Krause; his nephew, Joel (Michelle) Krause,
3their children, Micah and Hannah; and Jane's entire family, all
4the Bergums and Stacks; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Kurt R. Maas, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
8friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Kurt Maas as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
