SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Kurt R. Maas of Woodstock, who passed
away on July 3, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Maas was born in Chicago to Theodore and
Doris (Lehman) Mass on April 26, 1946; he was baptized in 1946
at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Chicago; he was confirmed in
1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookfield; he joined the
United States Marine Corps in 1964, serving two tours of duty
in Vietnam; after three years of service, he returned home and
received his high school diploma from Riverside Brookfield High
School; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Maas owned and operated a very successful
nursery and landscaping business for many years; he spent his
later years working in the real estate industry; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Maas married Jane Stack on February 25, 1995;
and
WHEREAS, Kurt Maas was preceded in death by his parents;
and
WHEREAS, Kurt Maas is survived by his wife, Jane Maas; his

children, Ronald Maas and Khristy Lester; his twin sister,
Karren (Rev. Paul) Krause; his nephew, Joel (Michelle) Krause,
their children, Micah and Hannah; and Jane's entire family, all
the Bergums and Stacks; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Kurt R. Maas, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Kurt Maas as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
