| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Kurt R. Maas of Woodstock, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on July 3, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Kurt Maas was born in Chicago to Theodore and | ||||||
| 6 | Doris (Lehman) Mass on April 26, 1946; he was baptized in 1946 | ||||||
| 7 | at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Chicago; he was confirmed in | ||||||
| 8 | 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookfield; he joined the | ||||||
| 9 | United States Marine Corps in 1964, serving two tours of duty | ||||||
| 10 | in Vietnam; after three years of service, he returned home and | ||||||
| 11 | received his high school diploma from Riverside Brookfield High | ||||||
| 12 | School; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Kurt Maas owned and operated a very successful | ||||||
| 14 | nursery and landscaping business for many years; he spent his | ||||||
| 15 | later years working in the real estate industry; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Kurt Maas married Jane Stack on February 25, 1995; | ||||||
| 17 | and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Kurt Maas was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 19 | and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Kurt Maas is survived by his wife, Jane Maas; his | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | children, Ronald Maas and Khristy Lester; his twin sister, | ||||||
| 2 | Karren (Rev. Paul) Krause; his nephew, Joel (Michelle) Krause, | ||||||
| 3 | their children, Micah and Hannah; and Jane's entire family, all | ||||||
| 4 | the Bergums and Stacks; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 7 | Kurt R. Maas, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
| 8 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the family of Kurt Maas as an expression of our | ||||||
| 11 | deepest sympathy.
