2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Lee Allen "Sam" Kurth of Harvard, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 30, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was born on May 14, 1941 to Raymond H. | ||||||
6 | and Ora E. (nee Graf) Kurth in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; he | ||||||
7 | lived his early years in Kewanee, Wisconsin before settling in | ||||||
8 | Harvard; he served his country in the United States Army from | ||||||
9 | 1963 through 1965 in a civil engineering unit stationed in | ||||||
10 | Vietnam; he married Judy L. Cutts on August 31, 1968 at Harvard | ||||||
11 | Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lee Kurth worked as a carpenter his entire life; | ||||||
13 | he worked for many years alongside his father, brother, Don, | ||||||
14 | and many nephews in the family business, Kurth Construction | ||||||
15 | Company Incorporated in Harvard; he later worked for Jude | ||||||
16 | Schmidt Custom Construction Incorporated in Marengo, retiring | ||||||
17 | in 2006; and

18 | WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and | ||||||
19 | enjoyed giving his grandchildren tractor rides and playing | ||||||
20 | games with them; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was preceded in death by his parents; |

1 | his brother, Donald Kurth; his sister, Joanne Denessen; and his | ||||||
2 | brothers-in-law, Lynn Berkovitz and Charles Miller; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Lee Kurth is survived by his wife, Judy; his son, | ||||||
4 | Gregory (Regina) Kurth; his daughter, Laura (Scot) Hay; his | ||||||
5 | grandchildren, Anastasia Kurth and Colin and Erik Hay; his | ||||||
6 | stepmother, Ruth Kurth; his sister, Nancy Miller; his | ||||||
7 | sister-in-law, Sharon Kurth; and many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
8 | therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Lee Allen "Sam" Kurth, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
12 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further
