SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the passing of Martin C. Voss, who passed away on
January 19, 2010; and
WHEREAS, He was born February 21, 1950, in Sandwich; He was
the son of the late Donald and Betty Voss; and
WHEREAS, He served his country during the Vietnam War in
the Army, and continued serving his country and community in
his volunteer work; he was recognized for his work by the City
of Des Plaines in 2007, receiving the Good Neighbor Super Star
Award; and
WHEREAS, He was the 9th district commander of the American
Legion; commander for the last six years of American Legion
Post 36; a member of the V.F.W. Post 2922 of Des Plaines; a
member of the V.V.A.; and a member of the memorial squad at
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery; and
WHEREAS, He loved to fish and dance, and enjoy life helping
others; he will be missed by many; and
WHEREAS, Martin Voss was the brother of Mary (Timothy)
Hoglund; and the uncle of Robin, Matt, Ben, Ellie and Bailey;

therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Martin C. Voss; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Martin C. Voss as a symbol of our
sincere sympathy.
