2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jack Albin Allen of Tuscola, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on September 4, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jack Allen was born in Newman to Ray and Lela | ||||||
6 | Albin Allen on October 27, 1926; he graduated from Newman High | ||||||
7 | School, where he played football and the trombone; he married | ||||||
8 | Wilma Armstrong in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jack Allen worked at USI and was a partner in the | ||||||
10 | Tuscola John Deere dealership; he later co-founded the | ||||||
11 | Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth dealership; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, In 1974, Jack Allen was elected County Clerk for | ||||||
13 | Douglas County and served in that position through 1990; prior | ||||||
14 | to being County Clerk, he was a county board member and a | ||||||
15 | Tuscola City Alderman; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Jack Allen was a 50-year member of Newman Masonic | ||||||
17 | Lodge #369, where he served as Worshipful Master; he was a | ||||||
18 | 50-year member of Tuscola Chapter #66 Royal Arch Masons, where | ||||||
19 | he served as Excellent High Priest; he loved model trains, his | ||||||
20 | ukuleles, and playing the piano; he was a trombonist in Gene | ||||||
21 | Trimble's orchestra; he also enjoyed finishing antique farm |

1 | toys, yard work, taking care of his house, playing golf, trips | ||||||
2 | to Florida, and visiting family; he was a member of Tuscola | ||||||
3 | United Methodist Church and never missed a meeting of the I & I | ||||||
4 | Club; he was a Paul Harris Fellow and longtime member of the | ||||||
5 | Tuscola Rotary Club; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Jack Allen rarely missed a weekday morning at | ||||||
7 | Flesor's Candy Kitchen for breakfast with Don, Red, Jim, Dale, | ||||||
8 | and others and came prepared with a very heavy bottle of | ||||||
9 | quarters for the 9 o'clock game of the Sons of Retirement at | ||||||
10 | the back table; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Jack Allen was preceded in death by his daughter, | ||||||
12 | Ginger; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jack Allen is survived by his wife, Wilma; his | ||||||
14 | daughter, Debra; his grandsons, Spencer A. Smith and Jack J. | ||||||
15 | Heretik; his sister, Martha Crane; his nieces, Connie, Doris, | ||||||
16 | Becky, Linda, Rita, and Marsha; and his nephews Ken, Steve, | ||||||
17 | Jim, Mike, Jerry, Harry, and Richard (Sexton); therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Jack Albin Allen and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further
