SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Joel C. Earnest of Moline, who passed
away on June 18, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Joel Earnest was born in Hamilton, Alabama to
Howard and Vera Lee Knight Earnest on October 14, 1943; he
served in the United States Army and married Marianne Bader in
Georgia on August 21, 1964; and
WHEREAS, Joel Earnest retired in 1995 from John Deere in
Moline after 32 years; he also worked for the Bettendorf school
system; and
WHEREAS, Joel Earnest attended Jesus Lighthouse Church; he
was a member of the United Auto Workers and the National Rifle
Association; and
WHEREAS, Joel Earnest was preceded in death by his
daughter, Linda Earnest; his son, Jimmy Earnest; his parents;
and his younger brother; and
WHEREAS, Joel Earnest is survived by his wife, Marianne
Earnest; his son, Joel C. Earnest Jr.; and his granddaughters,
Robyn Earnest and Emily Earnest; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Joel C. Earnest, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Joel Earnest as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
