| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Christopher "Chris" Ryan Hood of | ||||||
| 4 | Normal, who passed away on November 30, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Chris Hood was born in Champaign on January 21, | ||||||
| 6 | 1977; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Chris Hood started competing in Special Olympics | ||||||
| 8 | (SO) in his early 30s and became a Global Messenger; he often | ||||||
| 9 | played a role in the SO fundraisers and collected | ||||||
| 10 | contributions from local businesses; his sporting events | ||||||
| 11 | included basketball, volleyball, and track and field; he loved | ||||||
| 12 | to compete and made friends around the state; even more so, he | ||||||
| 13 | enjoyed practice time with his Tri-Valley Special Olympics | ||||||
| 14 | teammates; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Chris Hood was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears | ||||||
| 16 | fan; he went to the gym every morning around 4:30 a.m., and he | ||||||
| 17 | loved his "Morning Crew"; one of his best memories was when his | ||||||
| 18 | friends from the gym took him to Chicago to see a Cubs game; he | ||||||
| 19 | had an extensive shot glass collection as friends always | ||||||
| 20 | brought him one from locations to which they traveled; he | ||||||
| 21 | loved listening to country, gospel, jazz, and blues | ||||||
| 22 | (especially BB King) music; he excelled at remembering trivia; | ||||||

| 2 | WHEREAS, Chris Hood was known for his infectious | ||||||
| 3 | personality, gentle smile, warm hugs, sense of humor, and tall | ||||||
| 4 | tales; he had a special sense of reading people and knowing | ||||||
| 5 | when to offer support; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Chris Hood was preceded in death by his father; | ||||||
| 7 | his grandparents; and his two uncles; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Chris Hood is survived by his mother, Janet M. | ||||||
| 9 | Hood; his brother, Jason Hood; three nieces; one nephew; one | ||||||
| 10 | great-niece; three great-nephews; his aunts and uncles, | ||||||
| 11 | Charlotte Stoker, Diane (Steve) Campbell, Cindi (Dennis) | ||||||
| 12 | Hamilton, and Bill (Virgie) Boring; and his multitude of | ||||||
| 13 | cousins from coast to coast; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
| 16 | Christopher "Chris" Ryan Hood and extend our sincere
| ||||||
| 17 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
| ||||||
| 18 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Chris Hood as an expression of
our | ||||||
| 21 | deepest sympathy.
