SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Donald R. "Don" Smith of Harrisburg, who
passed away on March 7, 2012; and
WHEREAS, He was born on April 10, 1941, in Muddy; he was
the son of John William and Edith (Dardeen) Smith; he married
Phyllis Kay Millspaugh on May 10, 1962; and
WHEREAS, He was a retired coal miner who worked at Eagle
One and at the Keensburg Coal Mine; and
WHEREAS, He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion
of the Equality McLain-Glover Post No. 595; and
WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
brother, William E. Smith; his nephew, Terry Dean Wise; and his
beloved dog, Maggie; and
WHEREAS, Donald Smith is survived by his wife, Kay Smith;
his daughters, Teresa Collins and Ida (Brad) Evans; his sister,
Donna Kay Wise; his grandchildren, Cory Ray Collins and Hanna
Kay Evans; his great-grandchild, Nathan Andrew Collins; and his
nephews, Johnny (Kera) Wise, Billy Joe Wise, Ronnie Eugene
Smith, and Jason Smith; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Donald Smith; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Donald Smith as an expression of our
sympathy.
